AI to be included as a subject for Grade 10 from next year: Minister

The Education Ministry had decided to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a subject to the school syllabus for Grade 10 from next year, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

Addressing an event today, he said the decision was taken as the country needed to move quickly to an education transformation that goes beyond education reform.

He stated that all teachers should be trained in fields like technology and that the entire education system-including Universities- should be transformed, beginning with the school.

The Minister said that the country was facing a challenge to protect the youth, including children, from various social activities, especially in semi-urban and urban areas. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
