AG directs MEPA to submit oil samples near New Diamond to Govt. Analyst

The Attorney General has directed the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) Chairman to submit oil samples taken from the sea area near the ill-fated New Diamond oil tanker to the Government Analyst for examination, AG’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said.
 
The AG further instructed the MEPA Chairman to issue necessary instructions to the salvors of the vessel to take urgent measures to prevent oil from leaking into Sri Lankan waters.
