28,000 omitted names from Jaffna electoral register to be re-included

The election authorities have decided to re-include the names of 28,000 voters who were omitted initially from the Jaffna District’s electoral register for 2011/2012, officials said today.

Jaffna District Assistant Elections Commissioner P. Kuganathan said that his officials initially decided to exclude 41,000 voters from the register. However, he said that some people made appeals later, and that 28,000 of those names would be included in the list again. (Kelum Bandara)
