17 detected at Pamunuwa shopping complex, 70 at State bank branches

Seventeen people had been tested COVID-19 positive from the Pamunuwa shopping complex while 70 were found in a State-owned bank, after the New Year festive season, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said today.

The NOCPCO said one person was tested positive on April 11 and the rest of them were found after tracing the close contacts of the former.

The State bank positive cases were reported from various branches across the country. 

Investigations revealed that the bank management had distributed approximately 8 billion rupees for ATM machines.

Some 300 PCR have been conducted in the State-owned bank in Colombo.
Meanwhile, contact tracing related to the cases found from the State-owned bank yesterday, is continuing, officials said.

The two shops where the 17 positive cases were found in Pamunuwa has been closed and will be disinfected.

Another 31 COVID positive cases were found from the Piliyandala in the Gorakana, Rathmaldeniya, Borupana and Arawwala subsequent to 130 PCR tests. 

The contact tracing to locate the close associates are continuing.  (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
