12 major reservoirs open spill gates, 6 at medium level

Colombo, May 17 (Daily Mirror) - The Irrigation Department says that the spill gates of 12 major reservoirs and 06 medium-sized reservoirs have been opened due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions.

Among the reservoirs with spill gates opened, the following are operating at high spill levels:

• Rajanganaya – 10 spill gates
• Lunugamvehera – 10 spill gates
• Weheragala – 10 spill gates
• Sorabora Wewa – 10 spill gates
• Deduru Oya – 10 spill gates
• Alikotaara – 10 spill gates

The department further said that monitoring of reservoir levels and spill operations is being carried out continuously amid ongoing rainfall conditions.
