In a weather communiqué, the Department said that showery conditions are expected to intensify in the southwestern part of the island starting today (10), accompanied by strong wind gusts over the island and in the surrounding sea areas.
The general public is advised to stay attentive to future forecasts issued by the Department in this regard.
Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers may also occur in the Northern Province, as well as in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Badulla, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.
Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee district.
