The official launch of the NERDC technology for converting petrol three-wheelers into electric vehicles was held on November 21, 2025, at the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERDC) in Ekala. The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Science and Technology, Chrishantha Abeysena. NERD Chairman H. C. Ambawatte and NERD Director General Jayathu G.
