Richard Pieris Tyre Company Awards Night for their Top 100 Dealers

Richard Pieris Tyre Company, established as the pioneer in tyre retreading in Sri Lanka hosted their annual awards evening to felicitate highest performing Top 100 dealers on Sunday 28th June at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel.

The grand occasion was graced by Richard Peiris and Company PLC Group Director Mr. Sunil Liyanage and Mr. Pradeep Samaratunga, CEO of Richard Pieris Tyre Company.

Mr. H M T J Shanthiratne, Managing Director of Shanthi Tyre Mart Pvt Ltd, Dikwella clinched the All Island award in the Tire Retreading sector as the Best Dealer while the second and third places in the category were secured by Mr. W A W Sisira Kumara, proprietor of Sisira Tyre House, Rambukkana and Ms. H A C P Devika, proprietress of Jayanthi Tyre Centre, Balangoda respectively. 

The award for Best Dealer of the Tire Trading sector (covering the whole island) was secured by Mr. I A Karunatilleke, owner of Hiruni Tyre House, Pannala. The second prize in this category was won by Mr. Abdul Paham who is the proprietor of Regal Marketing, Addalaichenai.

The company is the current market leader in the industry with a growing market share of 55%, proving that their expertise in the field of over 80 years stands as testament to their operational excellence. Having introduced the process of conventional retreading to the country in 1934 and thereon innovating their business practices, culminating in the revolutionary ‘precure’ process in 1991 along with new treads and compounds, the company contributes to the national economy by decreasing transport costs and outflow of foreign exchange on imported tyres. 

Addressing the gathering, CEO of RPTC Mr. Pradeep Samaratunga remarked that company’s core objective is to introduce world-class products to the Sri Lankan market via its strong and dedicated sales agents island wide. This was prior to introducing a new high performance tyre tread brand by the name of Arpidag Hybrid at the occasion. “We will constantly strive to sustain and add value to the standards of our products and offer them at affordable prices to our customers”, added Samaratunga.

In addition, RPTC are in agreement with Birla Tyre Co., one of the largest tyre manufacturers in India, to market tyres for Buses, Light and Heavy Trucks as well as entering into partnership with Nexen Tyre Co. which is the number 1 tyre for Cars and SUVs in Korea. 

Today the Tyre sector of Richard Pieris Group comprises of three companies, Richard Pieris Tyre Co Ltd, Arpidag International (Pvt) Ltd, and Richard Pieris Rubber Compounds Ltd.
