Let’s hope Sri Lanka doesn’t become a zombie land!

The other day this writer saw a middle-aged individual dozing off near Borella Junction. While it was extremely worrying to see a drugged individual during an evening hour, one thing certainly became clear; that the drug menace is fast going out of control. The rate at which ICE and other dangerous drugs are being distributed is evident with the major drug busts happening around the country. While the government should be commended for its efforts to curb the drug menace, our only hope as citizens is to ensure that it doesn’t become another political gimmick. We citizens haven’t forgotten the former President who made a show out of his anti-drug busting campaign and made a media show in the Philippines. The government however needs to act fast before the younger generation falls prey to this menace.

Once addicted to this horrible drug, all that they ever want to do is to stay high. For that they would even do a murder to find a few hundred bucks and get their quota for the day. The youth eventually become robbers and murderers because they grapple with unemployment but need extra money to stay intoxicated. As such the government has a moral duty to eradicate this menace before it’s too late!
