By Gamini Bandara Ilangatileka
The Maussakele and Castlereagh main hydropower reservoirs were reaching spill level by last morning due to the heavy rainfall experienced in the western slopes of the central hills forming the catchments of two reservoirs.
Engineers in Charge of the reservoirs said the water level in the Maussakele reservoir stood only nine feet below spill level by last morning.
The five hydropower complexes of Laxpana, New Laxapana, Polpitiya, Wimalasurendra and Canyon are fed by the Maussakele and Castlereagh reservoirs.
