Kolonne Pradeshiyia Sabha budget defeated for the second time

The annual budget proposals for 2026 of the Kolonne Pradeshiya Sabha were defeated for the second time by one vote.   

The Pradeshiya Sabha met yesterday under the chairmanship of K.M.C.M. Sampath Gunasinghe.   

 The ruling party National People’s Power (NPP) had nine members while the opposition was represented by five SJB members, three SLPP members and two UNP and Sarawajana Balaya members.   

 After the budget debate the nine NPP members voted in favour and ten opposition members against.
