Disaster warning for Badulla District as heavy rains persist

In view of the Meteorological Department’s weather forecast of heavy rain in the Uva Province in the days to come, people in the endangered areas have been warned to be cautious of any possible disastrous situation and be prepared to leave for safer locations. 

District Secretary Panduka Sri Prabhath Abeywardene said the people living in areas vulnerable to floods or landslides should be cautious of possible danger. He said the heavy rain had been experienced in the Badulla District since Sunday night. 

He pointed out that it is imperative that people pay particular attention to any environmental changes, signs of landslides or rock falling during heavy rain, and constantly examine the rain gauge if available.
