In 2025, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) carried out 21,000 market raids across the country, resulting in fines of Rs. 285.5 million, as part of efforts to enforce consumer protection laws and promote fair trade practices.

During the year, 21,000 cases were filed against traders violating regulations, and 223 samples of food and non-food products were tested, including rice, coconut oil, canned fish, steel wire, cosmetics, and liquid milk.
