Brandix Apparel on Wednesday distributed 580 school supplies kits to children of employees at its Ridigama facility, marking another round of its annual welfare initiative ahead of the 2026 school year.
The distribution ceremony was held at the Brandix Ridigama auditorium and formed part of the company’s ongoing employee family support programme, focused on easing education-related expenses for workers.
Brandix officials said the initiative was carried out under the group’s humanitarian gift programme for the 10th consecutive year. The programme has so far supported 10,842 children of Brandix employees across the group, reflecting continued corporate backing for staff welfare.
Each beneficiary received a schoolbag and exercise books as part of the package. Wijeya Newspapers Ltd. supported the effort by supplying its Superior brand exercise books at concessionary prices, helping expand the reach of the programme, organisers said.
Senior officials of Brandix, along with invited guests, personally handed over the school kits to the children during the event. The ceremony was attended by company management, staff members and families.
Brandix said the programme is designed to recognise the contribution of its workforce by extending support to their families, particularly in education, as the new academic year approaches. The company has consistently maintained similar welfare activities across its manufacturing locations.
The Ridigama event is part of a broader set of community and employee-focused initiatives carried out by Brandix as Sri Lanka’s apparel sector continues to face cost pressures and workforce challenges.
Company representatives said the initiative would continue in the coming years as part of long-term commitments to employee well-being and social responsibility.
