12-year-old dies electrocuted while checking water pump in Kinniya

A 12-year-old schoolboy from Kinniya died after sustaining an electric shock while inspecting a household water pump, police said. The student was admitted to Kinniya Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.   

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Kadar Sadik, a Grade 7 student at the Kakumunai Government Mixed School in the Kakumunai area of Kinniya.   

According to preliminary police investigations, the accident occurred when the water pump failed to operate, and the student was attempting to examine the malfunctioning motor. During the inspection, he came into contact with live electricity, leading to the fatal incident.   

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
