the Royal Commonwealth Society.
Liyanage’s topic at the competition was based on the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) in Rwanda.
The topic was based on the idea, “Imagine you are a Head of Government delivering a speech to your counterparts at the CHOGM. Draft a speech that highlights what you believe should be a priority for collective action within the Commonwealth.”
Liyanage is a member of both the debating team and Gavel Club of Isipathana College. He also plays basketball for his school. He is also a member of his school’s orchestra.
He is also an active member of the school’s swimming squad.
Being an enthusiast in studying the behavioural patterns of animals Liyanage hopes to pursue his advanced study programmes on the same subject here in Sri Lanka and overseas.
He is the son of Sudath and Asha Liyanage; who both served in the defence establishment of the country.
