The 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) promises a dynamic blend of discourse and celebration. Renowned journalist, film critic and curator, Anuradha Kodagoda, will deliver the keynote at the Tenth Dhaka International Conference on Women in Cinema which will be held on January 21 and 22 at the Dhaka Club Samson Lounge, Shahbag, Dhaka.
The event will explore the nuanced representation of women in Sri Lankan cinema, aiming to move beyond victimization and explore the agency and alternative perspectives that contribute to a more profound understanding of female subjectivity.
Kodagoda, will also serve as a jury member for the women filmmakers section at DIFF 2024. Her multifaceted contribution reflects the festival’s commitment to diverse perspectives and excellence in cinema.
The conference will feature enlightening discussions with esteemed panelists, including award-winning actress, hall of fame producer, and director from the Philippines, Dr. Rebecca Shangkuan Chuaunsu. Joining the dialogue is Ms. Katerina Khramova, a Film & Theatre Actress based in Los Angeles, USA, offering a global perspective on women in cinema. The session will be presided over by Dr. Kaberi Gayen, Professor of Mass Communication & Journalism at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
