‘Apooru Rabu Gediya” (The Fantastic Radish) is the title of a children’s story book by Mithila Rasadari Wickremasinghe. Digging into her understanding of children’s minds from her experiences as a teacher, she has woven this tale of how a poor landless farmer called Banda got lucky; after getting permission to cultivate someone else’s land, he is rewarded by nature with a giant radish which brings him and his family prosperity.
