Essay competition on ‘Prevention of drug abuse’

Lions Clubs International District 306 A 2 is pleased to announce that it’s Annual All-Island Essay Competition on “Prevention of Drug Abuse” will be conducted this year too. This year marks the 27th annual contest and is organised by the Lions Club of Dehiwela North together with the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid-City -Rotary District 3220 as in the past 4 years. 


They are assisted in the conducting of the competition by Sri Lanka Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations Against Drug Abuse (SL FONGOADA). This programme is jointly sponsored by Australian Medical Aid Foundation (AMAF}, Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) and the Rotary Club of Hills Kellyville.


Relevant details of the contest are as follows:
(l) School students in the age group of 15 to 19 years are eligible to participate.
(2) Essays could be written either in Sinhala, Tamil or English.
(3) THE TOPIC for this year’s contest is :”Youths’ Role in Prevention of Drug Abuse”
(4) THE First five place winners in each language group will receive Rs,12,500, Rs.10,000, Rs.7,500, Rs.5,000 and Rs.2,500 respectively as cash prizes together with certificates and trophies.
Conditions:
 

(a) Essays should not exceed 6 pages (A4 size) and when writing use only one side of the paper. Typed entries should not exceed 5 pages.
(b) Certification by the Head of the school is required in respect of Date of Birth of the contestant and also to ensure that the entry is the original work of the student concerned.
(c) The name and address of the contestant including his/her residential address has to be written in bold English letters preferably with the contact telephone number; to facilitate communication and the preparation of certificates and  trophies for the winners.
(d) The decision of the panel of judges is final and no correspondence will be entertained.
(e) Entries will not be returned.
