Cinnamon Grand Colombo has once again partnered with Rescue Animals Sri Lanka to host Paw-Sperity Xtracaganza a charity pop-up sale in support of animal welfare and environmental sustainability on 29 March at the Atrium, Cinnamon Grand.

As the official venue sponsor, Cinnamon Grand is reinforcing its commitment to corporate social responsibility, demonstrating how leading hospitality brands can play a crucial role in community-driven initiatives.

Kamal Munasinghe, General Manager of Cinnamon Grand Colombo and Area Vice President of Cinnamon Colombo Hotels, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. "At Cinnamon Grand, we believe in supporting meaningful initiatives that create a lasting impact on our community and environment. Rescue Animals Sri Lanka is doing incredible work in giving a voice to the voiceless, and we recognize the importance of standing by such causes," he stated.

This partnership is not just about hosting a single event. Munasinghe highlighted that Cinnamon Grand maintains a long-term relationship with Rescue Animals Sri Lanka, actively supporting their mission to improve the lives of stray animals. “We continuously explore ways to support their invaluable work and have also implemented initiatives within our premises to ensure responsible and ethical treatment of animals,” he added.

The upcoming charity pop-up sale promises to be an engaging gathering for

animal lovers and advocates. "Guests can look forward to an inspiring event featuring a variety of stalls offering unique items in support of Rescue Animals Sri Lanka," Munasinghe explained. Beyond providing a premium venue, Cinnamon Grand’s team is working closely with organizers to ensure the event’s success.

For Anusha David, founder of Rescue Animals Sri Lanka, the pop-up sale is crucial in raising funds, especially given the rising costs of running the shelter and caring for street animals. “RAS has been entirely self-funded since its inception, but the economic crash has made fundraising essential. Apart from supporting our existing shelter and street work, we are also relocating, which requires significant resources,” she shared.

Beyond animal welfare, Rescue Animals Sri Lanka actively promotes environmental conservation. “Humans and animals need to coexist, yet we destroy our environment and disregard wildlife in the name of development. We strive to change this mindset through education and outreach,”

David stressed.

One of the biggest challenges David faces is changing public perception. “On average, I receive 15-20 calls daily about abandoned pets or dumped street animals. Education and a change of heart and mind are what’s required,” she said. Instead of focusing on rehoming, Rescue Animals Sri Lanka now prioritizes awareness, responsible pet ownership, and advocacy for humane solutions.

David sees Cinnamon Grand as a pioneer in corporate support for animal welfare. “Kamal Munasinghe is a shining light in the corporate world regarding this cause. With their help, I hope to reshape the thinking of other corporates and make them understand their role in animal welfare,” she noted.

By fostering partnerships like this, Cinnamon Grand and Rescue Animals Sri Lanka hope to create a lasting impact, inspiring others to take action and build a more compassionate future for Colombo’s

street animals.

Mrs World Sri Lanka 2025 and First Runner Up Mrs World 2025 Ishadi Amanda will be the

chief guest.
