Junior Rugby Encounter The Clash of the Origins S. Thomas’ College

The Clash of the Origins, a junior rugby encounter between S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and S. Thomas’ Preparatory School, Kollupitiya, was organised by the Class of ‘88 A Level Association of S. Thomas’ College. Held at the Small Club Grounds in Mount Lavinia, the event featured matches across the Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, and Under 16 age groups, along with an exhibition game between old boys of both schools.

In honour of late batchmates from the Class of ‘88 who contributed significantly to rugby at both institutions in the 1980s, trophies were presented in their memory: the Neilan William Memorial Trophy (U16), Harinda C. Perera Memorial Trophy (U14), Yohan Ambrose Memorial Trophy (U12), and the Class of ‘88 Challenge Trophy for the old boys’ match. The event served as both a spirited sporting occasion and a heartfelt tribute to their legacy.
