Day 3 of Colombo Fashion Week opened with a striking presentation by one of Sri Lanka’s most beloved designers, Charini Suriyage. Known for her bold yet elegant statement pieces, Charini remains the "go-to" designer for Colombo’s most fashionable. This season, her Mythical Ceylon collection was a mesmerizing tribute to Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage. Drawing inspiration from ancient art, she brought mythical creatures to life, interwoven with delicate floral motifs reminiscent of historic paintings. The collection burst with tropical hues, delivering a powerful fusion of tradition and contemporary flair.

Emerging designer Ayani Athma captivated the audience with her debut collection, Drowning Love, which masterfully blended craftsmanship, sustainability, and self-expression. Her designs explored the unspoken complexities of love, using fashion to articulate emotions words cannot. Ayani’s innovative approach combined heritage crafts such as crochet with cutting-edge techniques like cyanotype printing, adding an evocative and layered depth to her work. Aysha Faizer, another promising emerging designer, unveiled Kofi, a collection inspired by the Akan people of Ghana. The collection showcased striking geometric patterns through hand block printing—a technique that added both cultural depth and visual intrigue. Aysha’s designs seamlessly combined bold shapes with thoughtful craftsmanship, making a powerful statement on the runway.

A stalwart of Sri Lankan menswear, Fouzul Hameed delivered a collection that celebrated the essence of the modern gentleman and the empowered woman. Renowned for his impeccable quality and craftsmanship, Hameed’s presentation was a masterclass in refined tailoring and sophisticated silhouettes. Each piece reflected a balance of timeless style and contemporary confidence, reinforcing his enduring legacy in the world of men’s fashion.
Emerging designer Arsath Furkhan offered a refreshing perspective with his Flower Duet collection, which elegantly balanced structure and fluidity. Drawing from the grandeur of ancient architecture—its pillars, carvings, and sculpted limestone—Arsath reimagined classical artistry through a modern lens. Clean lines and softened edges combined with meticulous detailing, resulting in a collection that exuded both strength and delicacy.
Indi Yapa Abeywardena, one of Colombo’s most respected designers, presented Bold in Bloom—a vibrant celebration of florals in their most striking form. This collection was a feast for the senses, featuring dramatic silhouettes and vivid prints that commanded attention. Known for her commitment to ethical sourcing, Indi incorporated traditional Beeralu lacework into her contemporary designs. Her signature drape dresses and sarees, hand-draped on each model, embodied seductive grace while ensuring that women of all sizes felt beautiful and confident.
Closing the night with a touch of timeless glamour was Suneet Varma, one of India’s foremost couturiers. Renowned for his ability to weave fantasy and sophistication, Varma’s collection exuded pure luxury and sensuality. Each design shimmered with opulence, transforming the runway into a celebration of femininity and high fashion. His grand finale was nothing short of a visual spectacle, leaving an indelible mark on Day 3 of Colombo Fashion Week.
