Curtin Colombo Launch of Green Drive Combating Climate Change

As part of Curtin University’s international Acts of Service initiative, Student Ambassadors and the Student Guild of Curtin University Colombo, with the support of university management, planted over 120 native trees at Thewaththa Church and Dharmashoka College. Chaired by Pasandul Liyanage, the initiative aims to strengthen local ecosystems and expand green canopy cover. Karanda and Kumbuk trees were selected for their soil conservation and cooling benefits. Project Chairs Mihin and Liyanaa highlighted the students’ commitment to climate action, while the school and church authorities pledged to nurture the saplings, ensuring a lasting environmental impact driven by young leaders.
