A café that offers more than just drinks—a place that serves real coffee and tea, where people can focus, meet, work, or simply take a break. That’s the idea behind Island Tea Co. Malabe, the newest café opened at ICC Techno Hub, Thalahena, Malabe.

The space is designed to accommodate the everyday needs of students, freelancers, and professionals. It features work-friendly seating, charging ports at nearly every table, and a private meeting room suitable for remote calls or group discussions. Surrounded by greenery and natural light, the setting provides a welcome pause from screen time and city noise.

The drinks menu goes far beyond the usual. With over 100 beverages to choose from, the café serves 100% pure Ceylon loose-leaf teas, brewed without powders or artificial flavouring. Coffee under the Ceylon Coffee Club label is made using freshly roasted beans, brewed to highlight flavour and balance.

The café is especially popular for its bubble teas, cream cheese teas, and a wide range of Oreo- and chocolate-based drinks, including creamy frappes and dessert-style teas. Real ingredients—like fruit infusions and rich chocolate—replace syrups or artificial sweeteners, making each drink taste like what it’s supposed to.

The food menu follows a similar approach: no shortcuts, just flavour. Guests can enjoy Oreo cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, and tiramisu, alongside buttery croissants, submarines, and loaded sandwiches—served in portions that satisfy without overcomplicating.

Beyond food and drink, the café has become a welcoming space for content creators. Thanks to its natural lighting and clean design, it’s now used regularly for photo shoots, interviews, and video content, with space available on reservation.

“We’ve always wanted to build a space that serves multiple needs—somewhere you can grab a real cup of tea, finish a university project, and shoot a podcast all in the same afternoon,” says Dhanuka Winter, Head of Operations. “That’s what we’ve done in Malabe.”

To make the experience more accessible, students from nearby universities receive flat discounts on total bills. There are also weekend group deals, family offers, and corporate packs that include coffee, tea, and snacks. The café is available on Uber Eats, and promotions and new menu items are announced regularly on Instagram.
