A Fusion of Heritage and Experimentation Roots and Render Netherlands Embassy

Roots and Render is a bold collaboration between Cane Cult and Dutch experimental designers Studio Vesh, a collection that redefines Sri Lankan craftsmanship through contemporary European design.

At its core, this collection is about transformation, taking the island’s luxury hardwoods and centuries old carpentry techniques and merging them with modern form, structure, and storytelling. From intricately hand carved consoles to live edge tables with symbolic proportions, every piece captures a conversation between past and future, tradition and reinvention.

This isn’t just furniture, it’s a statement, a study, an experiment. Each piece is available on commission, offering bespoke customisations in colour, texture, and finish to suit collectors, curators, and design enthusiasts.

More than an object, this is an evolving narrative. Through this and future collaborations, Cane Cult is shining a light on Sri Lanka’s rich design potential, its artisans, and its untapped materials, redefining what Sri Lankan craftsmanship can be on a global stage.
