The delay in bringing the no-confidence motion against the government could be a deal between the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the government, Former Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara alleged today.
He told a news conference that several weeks have elapsed since the SJB was preparing to hand over the no-confidence motion and they lacked the enthusiasm to do it now.
"We doubt if the SJB has struck a deal with Basil Rajapaksa. I sense some secrecy behind the delay in moving the no-confidence motion to evict the government and form an all-party government as demanded by the majority of the people," he said.
He said the SJB doesn't seem to be having any enthusiasm to form an all-party government and added that SJB leader Sajith Premadasa was speaking against it now.
Mr. Nanayakkara said they were not concerned as to who becomes the Prime Minister in the all-party government but all they want was to evict this government. (Ajith Siriwardana)

The SJB had made it clear that they have no intention in an interim government; they just want the President and the Prime Minister to leave office first. This old pumpkin of a Vasu does not know what to talk and when to talk. I dont think there is anyone who takes him serious now.

When will the self serving politicians of Sri Lanka understand that that this unique crisis requires urgent action to satisfy international lenders to start correcting the damage done to the country's economy. Fiddling around the edges is not going to solve the problem. Wake up before there is a violent revolt against this apparent corrupt system.

In accordance with public media RW publicly admit he who delayed the NCM. SJB says they gave one week notice and what we understand is delayed for government to resign before NCM? Now who is seeking additional media attention?

It is Vasu who has a deal and ulterior motive. He wants to save Gota. If NC is successful, PM and cabinet will be replaced. The focus to remove Gota will be diminished. No one would want to work with Gota. This means there will be SLPP government again with different faces. Before NCM Mahinda wants 21st amendment so he can save himself. even with that Gota remains with some powers remained with Gota until his term is finished. This was the case for Mithree as well. Lot of scripts in play. Focus on main target. Get Gota out first. The rest will be a cake walk. With no money to run (if IMF delays payment) Gota will be gone. That is the only strategy here.
