The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will participate at a discussion with President Ranil Wickremesinghe tomorrow to discuss forming an all-party government, JVP politburo member Sunil Handunnetti said today.
He told a news conference that they would take part at the discussion following an invitation from the President.
Hadunnetti said they would clarify to the President the stance of the JVP on forming an all-party government and added that they would, however, not join the all-party government.
"We have already disclosed our stance to the country on an all-party government. The all-party government in the making is not an interim government which would hold or facilitate a general election. It was formed to establish the power of President Wickremesinghe and to win the confidence of the international community to obtain loans. The President has formed a government and is now inviting other parties to join it. It is not an all-party government at all," he said.
Hadunnetti said the JVP would not join the all-party government but they would participate at the discussion with the President to convey their stance. (Ajith Siriwardana)

If NPP to win future elections they must take responsibilities and show their capabilities, this will be good opportunity them to do that, otherwise people will not get confidence on NPP to vote and they will remain at 3 -5% for good.

JVP will never form a govt. on their own in this country in a lifetime. If you guys want to contribute something positive to the people join the govt. Only organising protest rallies is not a positive contribution to the development of a Nation

JVP in 2004 has shown its capabilities and the worthless of holding positions with those who hold majority from UNP or Pohottuwa, If people need to develop the country and get out of the mess they are currently in, then they have to vot JVP into power

It's a common opinion of all, leave a side everyone's politics and get together and find out a solution to get out of present crises. Please do not regret at latter stages if and when people of this country reacted strongly. We all had experienced it in recent past.

It is surprising that they are willing to meet and discuss. They traditionally take the 'my way or the highway' approach. They are not capable of listening to another's point of view and adapting their stance in the light of feedback or information presented by another side. They believe they know best and only their way is the solution. Let's see how they conduct themselves tomorrow.

When all aspects of society and its morality is fast diminishing, the 3 or 5 percent represent the best left. Being principled to the core and to the last gasp is not a weakness at all. The majority of the population blinded till now are beginning to get their vision back. Proof is in the next test (election).

The JVP stance hitherto appears to be that if they join an all party Government, it would be like contributing to perpetuate corruption and fraud.They want a system change to bring in the past wrong doers to justice and have clean politics and governance in the future.

I hail JVP's straight decision as your motives are basically different from the rest parties. They didn't think why those institutions had become such a disastrous state. But they now know that they too are accountable for thei Institution's unviability. All-party govt proposal is really a 'trap' or 'noose' of Ranil, in accordance with his future strategies !
