Former Kenyan envoy mourns the passing of Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga

Former envoy to Kenya Ambassador Kana Kananathan has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of His Excellency Raila Amolo Odinga,  Kenya’s former Prime Minister, this morning  describing him as “a visionary leader, a steadfast patriot, and a dear friend.”

“I am deeply shocked and heartbroken by the passing of His Excellency Raila Amolo Odinga, the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya,”Kananathan said. “As someone who knew him closely, walked many difficult paths by his side, for decades  and witnessed firsthand the depth of his integrity, courage, and vision, this loss is immeasurable — both personally and for our beloved and Kenya . He was a good friend to Sri Lanka . 

The Ambassador described Mr. Odinga as “more than a politician — a mentor, a statesman, and a tireless advocate for justice, fairness, and democracy.

“To his family, his comrades, and to all my brothers and sisters of Kenya who held him dear, I extend my most heartfelt condolences. May you find strength and peace in the enduring memory of his life, his service, and the countless lives he touched,” and Rest in eternal peace, my friend. Your light will never fade.” Ambassador Kananathan said.
