J.L. Morison Son and Jones (Ceylon) PLC (JLM), the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in Sri Lanka and a subsidiary of Hemas Holdings PLC, launched its new identity, ‘Morison PLC’ with the unveiling of its new logo, signifying a rejuvenated course of direction for the company.
For over seven decades, Morison PLC has delighted customers with best in class products, establishing itself as a reputed and trusted healthcare solutions provider in Sri Lanka. The company will further continue to persevere resolutely on its mission to offer quality products to its customers, with the launch of its state-of-the-art pharmaceutical research and manufacturing facility set to commence operations in March 2019.
Commenting on the new corporate identity, Morison PLC Managing Director Trihan Perera said: “The launch of our new identity Morison PLC marks a new era for an establishment that has always been perceived as a provider of quality excellence in Sri Lanka. While we continue to build on our company’s values and vision, we look forward to reinforcing the dynamism and innovation of a company that is steering towards broader horizons, coupled with a desire to add value to the lives of our consumers via cutting-edge technology in the manufacture and distribution of our products.”
Hemas Holdings PLC Chairman Husein Esufally said: “We believe the launch of the new identity, Morison PLC, demonstrates the company’s desire to represent itself in a simpler manner, via a simpler name, that will help generate strong brand equity in its journey to be a global player. As a company that has succeeded in securing significant market share as a pharmaceutical manufacturer and provider of healthcare solutions in Sri Lanka, we look forward to leading the industry with an absolute commitment to delivering quality products and solutions, while constantly seeking innovative means to evolve and grow in the process.”
Morison PLC commenced operations in Sri Lanka in 1939 as J.L. Morison Son and Jones (Ceylon) PLC, and was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1964. In May 2013, the Hemas Group acquired a controlling stake of the company. Today, it is a fully Sri Lankan owned company with over seven decades of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and renowned over-the-counter brands such as Morison’s Gripe Mixture, Lacto Calamine, and Valmelix, amongst others. The manufacturing process maintains stringent quality standards and is in compliance with the recognised pharmacopeia specifications and good manufacturing practices, in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.
