A woman who had in her possession 26.250 grams of heroin was arrested by Anuradhapura Division Crime Investigation Unit during a raid last morning.
The 36 year old suspect woman was a resident of Hurigaswewa area.
Investigations revealed that she was a close confidante of the suspected drug trafficker popularly known as ‘Reul Kumara’ now in remand at Boossa prison and that she had been carrying on the racket on his advice.
Police said she was arrested on information provided by another suspect who had been arrested earlier on asimilar offence. Under interrogation, she revealed that the market value of the stock of heroin was about Rs.10 million.
She was to be produced before Anuradhapura magistrate
A police team under OIC Anuradhapura Division Crime Investigation Unit CI Chaminda Gunasekara had carried out the raid on the instructions of SSP Thilina Hewa Pathirana and DIG Laksiri Wijesena.
