Thousands of Fish in Kelani River dying

Residents of the area said thousands of fish in the Kelani ganga in close proximity to the Ambatale water treatment plant had been dying over the last several days.

They pointed out that a large amount of dead fish were floating in the river. They said they informed the Pradeshiya Sabha, the Central Environmental Authority and the National Aquatic Resources Agency (NARA) about the environmental pollution and any adverse effects to the water treatment plant arising from the  dead fish.They requested the relevant authorities to carry out an inspection to ascertain the cause of death of fish in the river.
