Suspicious behaviour near Thalawila Church leads to arrest of two youth

The suspicious behaviour of two young men frequenting the entrance to Thalawila St. Anne’s Church in Kalpitiya during the vespers on Saturday evening (08) prior to the beginning of the Lent Season last morning led to their arrest. However, the ceremony was held in a grand way.   

They were arrested by the Police on duty at the Church.   

Police said the two young men of 20 and 21 years of age were from Puttalam and that they were frequenting the main entrance to the church at a distance of about 300 metres from without any valid reason.    

OIC Norochcholai Police IP.S.Dharmakumara said the suspects were produced in court and detained for 72 hours for further questioning.         

He said they would be questioned to trace their backgrounds or possible links to any of the elements involved in the Easter Sunday terrorist attack.
