Public - private partnerships an option mulled by Govt. to revive state ventures

The government remains open for public - private partnerships as an option in reviving loss making state institutions, an informed source said.  
Earlier, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said his government would consider dilution of some state institutions deemed redundant at the moment. Besides, he said some organizations would be considered for amalgamation.   
Responding to a query about the plan initiated by the previous government for private - public partnerships, a top government source said it would be difficult to abandon all the projects implemented in the past.  
According to the top source, it is incumbent upon the current boards of directors of the state institutions to look at the best models for development, and public - private partnerships remains an option.  

 Meanwhile, the authorities of SriLankan Airlines have submitted its business plan for the development of the national carrier.   
The involvement of the private sector is also an option in this regard.   
The President is also expected to envisage his plans for the development of the state institutions in his budget speech today.
