Poson Festival in Mihintale

The government has decided to provide state patronage to the Poson festival in Mihintale this year. A meeting to organize the Poson festival was held on Thurday(06) at Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara.

Senior Asst Seceretary to the President Sanjaya Prasad Weerasinghe told yesterday’s meeting at Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara that the government would provide state patronage to the festival.

The meeting was presided over by Chairman of the Poson Festival Committee and District Secretary Ranjith Wimalasuriya. The festival will be organized under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara Ven. Walawahengunawewe Dhammarathana Thera

Ven. Thera severely criticized the previous government, the President and the Ministers for inconvenience caused to him in organizing the Poson festival in  the last two years.

He expressed gratitude to the officers representing the Presidential Secretariat, The Buddha Sasana Ministry and the Department of Buddhist Affairs which attended the meeting.
