Man strips naked to feel free, rides motorbike along Kandy-Colombo Road

• Police to obtain court order to refer the man to a psychiatrist

A young man riding a motorcycle along the Colombo-Kandy road  while naked was arrested by the Kadugannawa Police  last morning. He was a 23-year-old man from Ahangama.   Police officers from several police stations had noticed him  and given chase to arrest him but to no avail since he sped away on his  motorcycle of high engine capacity. 

Kegalle and Mawanella Police, who failed to arrest him, had  messaged Kadugannawa Police, who put up road barriers and arrested him.     
He told police he had been riding from Ahangama and lodged  for the night at a hotel in Colombo and resumed his journey last morning  after stripping himself. He said he wanted to feel free and stripped  his clothes and even threw away his mobile phone.   
The police that provided him clothes was taking steps to  produce him in court. A senior police official said they would move for a  court order to refer the young man to a psychiatrist.   
A police team under OIC Kadugannawa Police CI Chaminda Gunaratne is conducting further investigations.
