Luxury vehicle racket for organised crimes busted: 20 seized, 3 in custody



  • Police have uncovered information regarding nearly 40 such illegally assembled vehicles in total
  • Investigations have revealed that members of the police force and the armed forces assisted in the illegal assembly of these vehicles

The Western North Crime Division is investigating a major racket where illegally assembled vehicles were being used for organized criminal activities.

Police have arrested three suspects and seized 20 vehicles, including luxury cars, jeeps, vans, lorries, and motorcycles that were recently put together unlawfully.  

Investigations have revealed that members of the police force and the armed forces assisted in the illegal assembly of these vehicles.

The arrested suspects, who are residents of Kadawatha, Gampaha, and Ja-Ela, provided information that led to the discovery of these vehicles in Kadawatha, Meegahawatta, and Monaragala.

Police have uncovered information regarding nearly 40 such illegally assembled vehicles in total. The three suspects are scheduled to be produced before court. The Western North Crime Division has requested the public to contact them via 0112 947780 if they have information regarding stolen or missing vehicles.
