I am subjected to threats and humiliation from those in my own party: Tissa

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National Organizer Tissa Attanayake yesterday said he is been subjected to threats and humiliation by those in his own party.
Mr. Attanayake told media that he is been criticized and had been subjected to threats by those in the SJB itself since he began a dialogue with UNP. “It was party leader Sajith Premadasa who appointed myself, General Secretary of the party Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Kabir Hashim and Mujibur Rahman to confer with the UNP. The decision to talk to the UNP was made following the approval of the SJB working committee.

However, I have been criticized by those from our own party. I have been subjected to threats as well. These are carried out through social media,” Mr. Attanayake told media.
“I don’t want to name those who are behind these acts as I don’t want to harm the SJB,” he added.
Mr. Attanayake said he will not participate in the talks with the UNP until the SJB takes some action with regard to the latest developments.
Mr. Attanayake stressed that the SJB should not close the door to other parties as a dialogue between parties and a common alliance is the need of the hour. “The SJB leader should contest for the presidency from a broad alliance if he wants to contest in the future,” he said in this regard.
