Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World 2025, Anudi Gunasekara who recently returned back to the country after participating in the pageant in India said she was not disappointed for failing to enter the top 40 and had been realistic about this throughout the competition.

Speaking to our sister paper Lankadeepa, in her maiden print interview, Anudi said that pageants like Miss World involve so many factors beyond the participants control — from the judging panel to the host country’s preferences and even international politics.

“I always stayed realistic about that. I did my best, achieved three records for my country, and now I’ve raised the bar for those who follow. That, to me, is success,” Anudi said.

She further said that while many people assumed that she will turn to cinema, she had no interest in doing so.

“I plan to continue my education, pursue my career, and expand Saheli Foundation. I’m also considering a Ph.D., possibly working with the United Nations, or joining the Sri Lankan Foreign Service,” she said.
