EC Warns of Fraudulent Job Scam Circulation on WhatsApp

The Election Commission has alerted the public about fraudulent messages offering jobs at the Commission circulating on WhatsApp.   

 Chairman of the commission, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake clarified that no recruitment notices for such positions have been issued.   

 He further confirmed that a complaint has been filed with the Police Computer Crime Investigation Unit.   

 The Chairman urged the public to avoid forwarding these messages.  

This is the second time fake advertisements have been posted online claiming that there are employment opportunities at the Election Commission as the same thing happened on August 24th last year as well.   

The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has warned the public of a fake National Election Commission website, advertising job opportunities at the Commission for the 2024 Presidential Election. The SLCERT informed the public that the fake (phishing) website was being used for cyber-fraud activities.
