The Contempt of Court application filed against former Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe was yesterday fixed for July 10 by the Court of Appeal.
Attorney-at-Law, Dimitri Shiraz Augustus Pietrangeli, filed this application challenging the alleged contemptuous conduct of the former Sports Minister during a parliamentary session on November 8, 2023.
The petitioner is further seeking an order to impose sentence on the former Minister for contempt of court under Article 105(3) of the constitution.
The petitioner stated that the respondent former Minister during a parliamentary session on November 8 made several allegations regarding the alleged motives and reasons for the issuance of interim orders by Justice Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne.
