Anudi First Runner-Up from Asia in the Miss World Multimedia Challenge



In a landmark moment for Sri Lanka, Anudi Gunasekara etched her name into pageant history by claiming the title of First Runner-Up from Asia in the Miss World Multimedia Challenge at the 72nd Miss World Festival in the vibrant city of Telangana, India.  

Anudi’s remarkable performance not only earned her a place among the Top 20 global finalists in the prestigious challenge but also made her the first Sri Lankan contestant ever to reach this milestone in the Multimedia category. 

Her success stands as a testament to the growing presence and talent of Sri Lanka on the international stage.  

Further elevating her achievement, Anudi clinched a coveted position among the Top 8 global winners of the Multimedia Challenge, selected from an impressive pool of 108 participants worldwide.  

This victory also marked another historic first: Sri Lanka secured a spot in the Top 20 of three fast-track events Talent, Head-to-Head Challenge and Multimedia for the first time in Miss World history. It is a resounding moment of national pride and progress in the country’s pageantry journey.  

Anudi’s became the club of Sri Lankan women who have excelled in international beauty pageants after Manel Ilangakoon who became third runner up in Miss World contest in 1955, Maureen Hingert who became 2nd runner up in Miss Universe in 1956 , Rosy Senanayake who became Ms. World in 1985 and Caroline Jurie in 2019.
