African hyenas to roam Hambantota Safari Park



As part of animal exchange programmes, a pair of Himalayan brown bears  (Ursus arctos isabellinus), a pair of spotted hyenas, and three pairs of  slender-tailed meerkats were brought to Sri Lanka for public viewing  yesterday.

People will be able to see the pair of spotted Hyenas in the Hambantota Safari Park for the first time in Sri Lanka.

According to the Environment Ministry, these animals will be kept under quarantine for one month before being kept for public display at the safari park and the Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala.
