Japan’s samurai spirit

Horsemen clad in samurai armor compete in the Kachu Keiba race during the Soma Nomaoi festival at Hibarigahara field in Minamisoma, Fukushima prefecture. The Soma Nomaoi began as a way to train mounted warriors and it still looks the same a millennium later, with riders dressed in samurai armour battling it out in horseback events. (AFP)
