Looks like this bridge has seen no maintenance since I left Colombo in 1987. Safety of pedestrians is number one priority.

They won't fix it until some people were dead. After accident, they will send the inquiry team and arrange a commission to inspect all the public bridges in Colombo(but only this one needed to fix immediately) and also they have to settle down the payments to beneficiaries. AFTER ALL THESE CRAP finally all the expenses will be 100 times higher than simply fixing this bridge before when it comes to their attention.

There must be engineers assigned to look after these places an MP for the area, councillors for the ward ,good to get their explanations.What is the budget allocation for such work how was it spent who inspects, such basic questions will give the answers no need to waste time with committees maybe public officials MPS should use public transport more often to gauge the true picture

The budget increased the resources to maintain former Presidents, and Ranil keeps going on foreign tours at tax payers expense. No funds to safeguard public.
