The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Ceylinco Holdings, John Keells Holdings and Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka with the turnover crossing Rs. 5.2bn.
A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in CIC Holdings, Commercial Bank and Ceylon Tobacco Company.
Mixed interest was observed in Overseas Realty, Lanka Milk Foods and Janashakthi Limited whilst retail interest was noted in Hikkaduwa Beach Resort, SMB Leasing and Citrus Leisure.
Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers. Materials sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to CIC Holdings) whilst the sector index gained 2.04%. The share price of CIC Holdings increased by Rs. 1.30 (3.98%) to close at Rs. 34.00.
Diversified Financials sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover whilst the sector index increased by 2.91%. Overseas Realty, Lanka Milk Foods, John Keells Holdings and Commercial Bank were also included amongst the top turnover contributors.
The share price of Overseas Realty gained Rs. 3.40 (6.94%) to close at Rs. 52.40. The share price of Lanka Milk Foods moved up by Rs. 4.20 (4.50%) to close at Rs. 97.50. The share price of John Keells Holdings recorded a gain of Rs. 0.30 (1.46%) to close at Rs. 20.80. The share price of Commercial Bank appreciated by Rs. 0.25 (0.12%) to close at Rs. 210.00.
