Viet Nam and Sri Lanka signed five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering areas including tourism, security cooperation, religious and cultural affairs, civil and commercial engagement, transport, economic cooperation as well as science and technology.
The MoUs were formally exchanged this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, in the presence of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Socialist Republic of Viet Nam President and Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam General Secretary Tô Lâm, the President’s Media Division said.
Accordingly, an MoU between the People’s Police Academy of the Viet Nam Public Security Ministry and National Police Academy of Sri Lanka on cooperation in police training and scientific research was exchanged by Viet Nam Public Security Minister General Luong Tam Quang and Sri Lanka Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala.
An MoU on cooperation in the fields of science and technology between the Science and Technology Ministry of Sri Lanka and Science and Technology Ministry of Viet Nam was exchanged by Viet Nam Science and Technology Minister Vu Hai Quan and Sri Lanka Science and Technology Minister Chrishantha Abeysena.
An MoU between Viet Nam Ethnic and Religious Affairs Ministry and Sri Lanka Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry was exchanged by Viet Nam Ethnic and Religious Affairs Minister Nguyen Dinh Khang and Sri Lanka Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi.
Another MoU on cultural cooperation between Viet Nam Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry and Sri Lanka Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry was exchanged by Viet Nam Culture, Sports and Tourism Deputy Minister Ho An Phong and Minister Dr. Senevi.
An MoU on cooperation in the field of information and communications between Viet Nam Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry and Sri Lanka Health and Mass Media Ministry was exchanged by Viet Nam Culture, Sports and Tourism Deputy Minister Ho An Phong and Sri Lanka Mass Media Deputy Minister Dr. Kaushalya Ariyarathna.
During the occasion, the government of Viet Nam donated and officially handed over 100 metric tonnes of fertiliser to Sri Lanka.
The consignment was presented by Viet Nam Finance Minister Ngo Van Tuan and Viet Nam National Chemical Group Chief Executive Officer Nguyen Huu Tu to Agriculture Ministry Secretary D.P. Wickramasinghe.
