Rajan Asirvatham

Rajan Asirvatham, one of Sri Lanka’s most respected corporate figures and a professional who held a series of influential roles across the public and private sectors, passed away yesterday (12 December).

The funeral is scheduled for this afternoon.

A Chartered Accountant by training, Asirvatham spent over four decades at KPMG Sri Lanka, rising to Senior Partner and Country Head, becoming a key voice in the country’s financial and professional services community.

His leadership extended well beyond the firm, as he took on top positions including Chairman of Bank of Ceylon and Chairman of the Public Enterprises Reforms Commission, while also serving as a member of several presidential commissions on taxation and salaries.

Most recently, he served as a Director of the MMBL-Pathfinder Group, where he continued to contribute his expertise to the national economic and business discourse.
