Sampath Bank said it has successfully arranged a Rs. 33.5 billion syndicated loan for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), alongside Nations Trust Bank and Pan Asia Bank, to support the state utility’s debt restructuring and operational needs.

The facility, described as a landmark transaction, is aimed at easing CEB’s financial pressures while ensuring  uninterrupted supply of electricity across the country, Sampath Bank said in a statement.

“The syndicated loan highlights the collective strength of Sri Lanka’s banking sector in supporting nationally important institutions,” the bank said, adding that the initiative underscores its commitment to sustainable growth and long-term economic development.
