Over 200 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from across Sri Lanka are set to gather tomorrow for National SME Forum 2025, aimed at boosting export growth for local businesses.
Hosted by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the full-day event at Taj Samudra, Colombo, will serve as a pivotal platform for SMEs to explore international trade avenues, gain valuable insights from industry experts and forge connections with global markets.
The forum is designed to provide a comprehensive toolkit for SMEs looking to expand their horizons. The attendees will benefit from the presentations and insights delivered by the senior representatives from key government institutions, including the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, National Enterprise Development Authority and Export Development Board.
Further enriching the experience, expert-led thematic sessions will delve into critical areas for business growth such as leveraging digital tools, navigating finance options, understanding government strategies for SMEs and exploring corporate support mechanisms for scaling operations. A significant highlight of the forum will be the session titled ‘Expanding into Export Markets: Opportunities Beyond Sri Lanka’. This segment will offer participants a unique chance to directly engage with trade representatives and export counsellors from major markets, including India, the UK, European Union and UAE. The discussion will focus on practical guidance for entering international markets, adhering to regulatory standards and successfully integrating into global value chains.
In addition to the informative sessions, the forum will feature a Business Matchmaking and Support Clinic. A diverse range of industries will be represented at the forum, including tea, spices, food and beverages, dairy, information and communication technology, eco-solutions, wellness products and crafts, among others.
