SLPA calls for EOIs for East Container Terminal

Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has decided to call expression of interests (EOIs) for the development of the East Container Terminal (ETC) of the Colombo Port, a statement by the Ports and Shipping Ministry said. 


The Cabinet approval has already been granted for this, it added. 

It has been decided to appoint Asian Development Bank as the financial advisor for the project.

The government is expected keep 51 percent of ownership of the ETC while a leading terminals/shipping operator who partners in the project will hold 49 percent. 

The statement said about 400 metres of the 1200 metres East terminal has already been completed, and the SLPA is currently using it for handling bulk cargo ships to earn an additional income.
